Hey guys,

At the end of the month im changing my exhaust again. At the moment ive got just the new back box on, but im thinking about puting just a straight through bit of pipe in place of the standard exhaust. Im just after opionions on whether to do the straight through puipe from the cat back or from the manifold all the way back.

Any thaughts/oppinions apprechiated.

Thanks

From manifold all way back may give a few extra horses but is also illegal. You need the cat.

as Wimmy said, your car must have a cat to pass the mot.. there are ways around this from the visual perspective, but the question is then will it pass the emissions?!

as for noise... well i hope you dont like your music, or your ear drums... i drove my 1.2 around for 2 days with nothing from the cat, then the flex snapped so only had the downpipe and feck me sideways.... it was loud... and i mean silly loud aswell. i have a relatively healthy sound system in the car and dont mind using it one bit, but couldnt hear it at all. plus i had the added annoyance that everyone knew i was coming, but had to be careful how i drove (not easy for me) be respectful to neighbours and people in general (driving around at night isnt the best idea) plus there a bugger loads of horses around here, and while i dont think tey should be on the public highway, you have a car as loud as Patch was... you dont go near them, especially with the back fireing etc... very unpredictable... even if it was fairly nice

Jayvfr has straight through from the cat back and it does sound ever so nice!

Exhaust

So would you guys recommend cutting the pipe just after the middle box and doing straight pipe from there?

Will that still sound nice and loud and also what sort of pipe would be best to use for this?

Thanks

cutting after the mid box will gove you no more sound than the back box

persoannly if you want noise, go straight through from the cat back and get someone to build it unless your a dab hand with a pipe bender, or are willing to buy curved sections and weld them together making your exhaust yourself

Exhaust

Well what about just cutting past the cat, and then from the cat just put a straight piece of pipe to the back of the car with the backbox on the end?

Thanks

theres no need for cutting, the exhaust fits oiver the cat like a sleeve join

you can get a straight bit yes, but the exhaust twists around the petrol tank, so you will have to do the smae hence the bends

THE GAUNTLETS BEEN THROWN DOWN... THE BATTLE OF THE 1.2'S IS ON :)

why not make a straight thru pipe with a piece same size as the cat so you can take off the car and have ti straight through or you cna have the cat on for mot like...

===============|=cat=|=====>down pipe

===============|=====|=====>down pipe

if you understand what i mean??

Because if VOSA take a disliking to you and do a roadside test and its either too loud, or fails emmisions, you will get bummed.

Bummed ???

Blimey, these roadside penalties are getting a bit harsh now !! ;)
