hello all.
i have a t-reg bravo(its the bronzey-orangey coloured one) 1.2 16v
its agreat little car but i am having a starting problem.i searched for the answer on this board but couldnt find it...
it will start from cold,no problems.but if its been running a while and i turn it off,it wont start.(the engine turns over fine)
when the ignition is turned on,when its warm, the injector symbol on the dash only goes off for half a second then comes back on and the key code symbol doesnt go off.
any ideas?

Hi there

i've also got a 1.2 sx in green, and had a similar problem. i think there could be a couple of things

1: how long have you had the car? one of the ECU's takes a long time to adjust to a different driver, the the engine may be used to low revs and stalls easily. mine worked fine after about a month.

2: The code light MUST go off before you attempt to start the car, otherwise it will lock becuase you might be trying to steal the car

3: if you do get the problem where the code light stays on, an easy 5 minute wait will suffice, if its a regular thing, keep the master key (red) with you and it should start no problem

4: get it to an electronic specialist

hope this helps

Thanks for that.i've been looking through the site and saw the thing about the ecu.
ive had the car 18 months, but it does a lot of standing because my motorbike is my main mode of transport( and we had one of the best biking summers ever!)
i took the battery off a few weeks ago to charge it( i didnt have any problems before this) and when i put it back in i started it and drove off straight away, revving it and driving pretty quick( i was in a rush!) so i might try disconnecting the battery then reconnecting and letting it run at idle for 10 minutes to reset the ecu.
as far as the red key,do you suggest starting it with it? i dont know much about them, but was told never to use the red key?

After having battery disconnected for a while the ecu has to "learn" .just drive normally,No harsh acceleration. and gradually build up to your normal method of driving. disconnect battery for about an hour and the ecu will reset. (do this before doing the above)

If you use the red key the next time you make a journey then you should be fine. when you get to wherever you're going i suggest trying this, it worked for me

1: put the red key in the ignition and turn to MAR but don't start the engine

you'll the notice the lights flash on and off as normal and the car will be ready to start. make sure you have the 2 blue keys with you.

the red key temporarily resets the ECU if it keeps happening then you know you have a problem.

2: remove the red key and do the same with both of the blue keys.

the result is that that the keys have been checked into the ecu meaning that the car should start with either key as normal ie: when all the lights are off

If it persists id get it checked m8

"2: The code light MUST go off before you attempt to start the car, otherwise it will lock becuase you might be trying to steal the car"

Utter B$. You do not have to wait for any of the lights to go out.

The fact the injector light comes straight on indicates you most likely have a problem with the ECU or the electrics connected with the ECU. Best bet is to cough up for a diag rather than messing around.

If it was an immob problem the injector light would not re-light.

The code light staying on can also indicate low voltage.

Also you don't need to drive gently after an ECU reset, the ECU learns the engine and not the driver. If you drive like a tool it just takes a bit longer to re-learn the engine.

check the terminals, i had a problem after removing my battery, just tighten up the connections, before i had to widdle the connections coz it was arching or something.

cheers for all the info, ill give them all a try...
