just rung kwick fit (nearest garage) to see if they would swap my steelys with my fiat alloys and do the tracking on them on my dinner hour. and they said no, they are not allowed to use the customers parts, but it would be fine if i put the wheels on and then take it to them for the tracking!

just seems strange to me.

i think maybe they thought you meant swapping the tyres over. They HAVE to use customers parts to do your tracking, if you get my meaning (they cant exactly fit new wheels, tyres and track rods etc just to do tracking

he meant he cant put the wheels on, i said the new (second hand standard fiat) wheels have tyres on and iv got brand new bolts, but they wont swap the wheels over. at first he said thats fine bring it down, then asked me what sort of car it was, then he said ive just spoke to manager and he said its against company policy to use the customers parts.
maybe he meant the bolts?
or maybe they just couldnt be bothered doing it.
or just dont like fiat bravos!!

just taken it to harveys tyres who are apparently part of the kwik fit group and they said they'll do it no probs, and have no idea why kwik fit wouldnt!

It's probably because it's not on their menu pricing guide to swap wheels over and so they have no agreed way of charging you for it. Kwik-Fit go to great lenghts now to ensure that you get charged the same prices whichever one you go to and this tends to mean rigid menu pricing I'm afraid.

It's like when you used to go for a MacDonalds and ask to upgrade your Value meal to include a milkshake instead of a coke. As they didn't have a button on the till to do that they wouldn't allow it. Many complaints and lost sales later and they add a button to the till!
