Hello all,

i was looking at a powerflex or superflex website (cant remember exactly which) for bushings for the bravo, and they came up. does this mean they can be replaced in the arms by bashing and cutting them out, or are they actually molded into the arms ?. seems a bitch to have to replace the arms, but i guess most modern cars are the same. Also, even if ya could replace them, are those polyurethane bushings any improvement in performance or longevity than standard rubber ones. I live in ireland, where the roads will kill any suspension, and I've put in normal rubber bushings (originals from a dealer) into a car, and they lasted about a year !!.

If the roads are that bad I'd advise against poly bushes. They transmit more force to the subframe and can cause fatigue cracking and damage to the subframe and chassis. Admittedly it was on an old VW polo but the metal around the mounts had split.

Usually when the bushes are dead the ball joint is dead too so replacing both together is a good idea.

If you go for poly bushes, when the ball joint wears you will have to buy new arms and remove the bushes and fit them all over again.

another for the archive

I've already bought the Powerflex bushes, but have have since opted to replace the wishbones too. Will post post pics up next week of any difficulties in swopping/installing
