I was cleaning my car and foolish as I am managed to knock of the rear view mirror off. Looking at the windscreen it appears to be mounted on a patch of metalish element material, not on the actual glass of the windscreen. Does anyone know what I would use to re-attach the Mirror as i'm not sure glass bonding glue will work on the nonglass bit.

Guys

I find aridite best. Comes with instructions. Two seperate tubes you mix together and it makes a really strong bond in 15mins. Mind you you have to hold it in place. Which can be a bit daunting on the arms at that angle.

You'll find the mirror can detach from the metal baseplate it sits in. Stick the baseplate the glass using araldite or similar. Leave it overnight and then just slide the mirror back in the holder/baseplate.

If you try sticking the mirror up in the baseplate, you're gonna be sitting there a long time holding the mirror up.

Aridite. Isn't that an anti-perspirant?

I'd try Araldite. Should give better adhesion.:)
