As we were talking about it the other day, I just thought I'd let you know I installed XP Pro 64Bit this evening on a seperate HD for evaluation and this sucker flies !!

And all my 32Bit stuff works so far ! :)

If this PC had wings it would take off ! LOL

You must have either an AMD Athlon 64, AMD Opteron, Intel Xeon with Intel EM64T support or Intel Pentium 4 with Intel EM64T support.

You must also have the facility to burn ISO files on to CD if you choose the download.

It is also time limited to 365 days.

I installed it on a spare HD I had knocking around, as, being a "Preview" version, no-one would be stupid enough to evaluate it without taking precautions.

Having been on the original XP beta testing program, I know how unstable these can be, but I have to report that the whole thing is stable so far and really flies :) The 64 Bit processor really does make a difference.

Well, none that Microsoft received any money for ;)

I know, I was being sarcastic on their behalf ;)

Surely Tom, the Sarcasm King, should've picked up that one !! ;)

Ah, Red Hat, the "free" Linux that no longer is free, unless of course you have Fedora which is a permanent "preview" edition, tested by the masses for the benefit of the paying customer :)

Jeez, I oughta spend less time around Tom ;)

Rob

Me too. Have to admit it was one of the finer ones. I now prefer Debian and especially Knoppix, but Red Hat is cool.

Rob

Indeed :)

Although I have to admit, I have lapsed on my Linux usage of late. Now I have got the new PC, I might use the remains of the old one to build a Linux server :)

Rob

I get to maintain the servers at work, twin Xeon 2400 with 1gig ram and U320 hard discs running debian.

My home server is a P2 266, but that just does incoming mail, webmail and some small hosting duties.
