Hi all
Will be looking to remove my wing mirrors for spraying this coming weekend on my Brava. Before I start,Is it just a matter taking the 3 screws out of the bottom of the mount or is there anything else I need to know?
Also any advice on materials to use to get a perfect finish..?

Cheers
Peter.

Take the plastic cover off from the inside, and just to the front of that is a round plug. They reveal 3 torx screws. Take them out and the whole mirror comes off. Make sure you take the weight as it's quite heavy!

If its not in the bravo/a Guide, there are wires running through the backplate, inside the door should be a triangular plastic piece in the corner behind the mounting plate, this pops off and inside are 3 star key bolts,8mm i think?? taking these out you can remove the whole unit detaching wires on the inside of the door, hope this help's i only found out because i have sprayed my backplates after peeling started, good luck ;)

Yep it's easy, even i managed it without too much trouble when i repainted my mirror mounts, just get stuck in and you'll work it out as you go along. Just try not to drop any of the screws down inside the door, you wont get them out again!

Did mine through last week. Very easy to take off and put back on. Once you have taken the full mirror off there are three screws underneath the actual mirror. Remove these screws and take the mirror off the base plate.

I then spent hours sanding down the base plates back to the bare metal. Ended up looking very shiny indeed. I then used a couple of coats of plastikote metal primer. Once this had dried I used a few coats of plastikote matt black metal finish.

All back on now and looking like new.

That's just what i did except i just hammerited them, they looked really good after that. I used a wire brush attatchment on a drill, saved me a lot of time.

However - this is the 3rd time I've done them! lol.

1st coupleof times I didnt sand them down properly, I only got rid of the flaky paint and didnt prime them. Needless to say they only lasted 6 months beofre they were corroding again. Hopefully this time they will last

Anyone seen those Myhheer blade mirrors. They look quite smart, and i think would match the bravo.. £150 a pair mind you, though you do get, anti-blind spot, anti-dazzle/glare lenses (about £30 worth in hellfrauds)
