I am looking to get another bravo cos the one i hav is a P with 67,000 in the clock. i hav seen a w reg 1.2 16v 30,000 on the clock and with a part exchange i can get it for £2000, does this sound resonable? It doesnt hav a red key though and the dealer seems to think that fiat stopped doing them for cars this age. Does anyone know if this right?

cheers in advance

£2000 seems a lot to me. why are you changing? if its to upgrade to a better model then ok, but if its just to get one with lower milage i wouldnt bother. £2000 is a lot for what you will put back on in 2 or 3 years and 60k isnt exactly high mialage. I'd rather stay with an older car with a history i know then a new one who's history i dont know.

I think all bravo's came with the red key originally, although i think keys can be copied without one now, but i'd still use it for leverage on the price

Re: Re: Opinons

Without the red key, tell him to forget it.

All fIATS HAVE THE RED KEY!

My 1.6 Trofeo was bought brand new in 2000 on a W Plate; needless to say, it had the red key.

This key is req'd if thE ECU needs reprogramming - Fiat will charge you about £800 for a replacement if one is needed.

Think about a 1.6 instead of the 1.2; if you can afford one. they're much, much faster and have a nice kick at 4000 rpm. Insurance is reasonable too; if you're over 25. Fuel economy is reasonable too.

I personally think the 1.2 is too slow in a Bravo; fine in the Punto I hasten to add. Finally, DO NOT buy a white, Lichen green or Margueruta Orange coloured one. Dealers hate them as trade ins and give you shite all for them.

This from the man who bought a bright yellow HGT!

Re: Re: Re: Opinons

i dont think dealers car what colour car you have. bravos arn't really worth enough for the forecourt and will go to auction, they will give you rock bottom regardless.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Opinons

if there is no Red Key walk away!!
Or get them to pay for a new ecy locks etc then you do have a red key!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Opinons

Dealers do care.

I saw six today at one franchise.

They'll squeeze every penny os beware.

Colour and Red Key are both important.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Opinons

i think it depends on the dealer. dixons and car supermarkets eg carcraft definately do not care. they dont care about what they are selling or buying, so long as tehy get the figures. they know nothing of cars, just which have the biggest comission. Awful places and i would never go back to them again

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Opinons

I have the sense not to use them in the first place. I use samll dealerships who do care (marginally) and only about their profit - hence them being fussy about colour.

Silver and Black are the only sure winners.

The only modern day fiat vehicle dealer's wont give tuppence is the ugly goldfish bowl one. What's it called? You know, the one with the spot's below the windshield

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Opinons

i wouldn't i used those places, i would say i tried, and walked out in disgust with teh salesman wondering why i was walking away, he didn't seem to be able to see how appauling the car was. I also like smaller dealers.

RR did you say you had an integra type r? a friend of mine has just baught one, he got fed up of how much his rover coupe was costing him in repairs. lol Whats it like to drive? is it teh usual honda v-tech type drive where it only goes after about 5000rpm or is it quite well balanced?

Multipla?

When i was looking for my ahem Saxo VTS i went into one of those places...and they had a 106 GTI, for £7000, the salesman asked how much i was looking to spend, and i said between £4500 & £5000, he dissapeared only to come back less than 2 mins later and said i can have the car for £5000...neadless to say i walked away pretty sharpish...as either the car has something wrong with it...it had been hammered...or there are charging way too much for thier cars...
