6x9's

Can't quite remember the size of the standard speakers, think their 5x7's in the front doors, i'll check tonight.
You'll have to make up an MDF ring to mount the 6x9's into to give you enough space if you don't want to take a metal cutter to your door to make the standard hole bigger.
You also need to be careful of getting the door card back on again, so you'll also need to check theres space inside that to fit a 6x9.

As for the high pass filter, the Fiat one is awuful, it's set to work with standard speakers not uprated ones.
You don't want much bass up front, that's what the sub will be there for. Speakers are there to play mid and treble, if you want bass get a sub.

Re: 6x9's

sod it :) i think i've decided:

Ok i want some component replacements for the front which i'll run of an amp, standard fit in the back and a sub running off the same amp as the front...

good idea?

SO now i just need to pick the components.

Oh and my music is lots of bass and fast dance music (hard house etc)...

Sound like a good idea?

Or should I go ott and amp the front and back (putting the 6x9's) in with a sub, i know you said it kills the sound stage, but in my rover it sounded wicked :)

components

Personally i'd go with some components up front, some uprated 5" 2-ways in the standard rear positions, amp the lot of them and add a sub.

The 6x9 options sounds ok, you'll get a bit more volume, but not as much bass.

I promise you you'll have more bass with the first system.

Why don't you try the first system and take a listen. Then borrow some 6x9's from a mate and try plugging them in as well and taking another listen.
