First check the inertia switch on the firewall behind the battery.

Get a kkl cable and read the immobiser codes with multiecuscan.

If you were cranking with a low battery you may have a different rolling code in the key and immobiliser, you will need to resync the keys. You can do it with lexia clone from china and I think also with alfaobd or call a locksmith.

To check the inertia switch, do I need to remove the battery again ? bcos the battery location is really tight.

No, its screwed onto the firewall looks like an upsidedown relay has a rubber cover over the switch on the bottom. Push this up.

Hi, update , I found the switch pushed it up and it worked but I have to keep doing it all this all the time .

AA guy plugged in the scanner and it says there is an error with the immobiliser . Can this be bypassed?

Can't remember the exact words but the aa guy said the immobiliser is not recognising the key.

Check wiring behind n/s headlamp, rubs on body or a bracket and can cause all sorts of issues.
You need headlamp out to check it.

Thanks you. Will do that tomorrow and give an update. Cheers

On the 244 ducato the immobiliser is in the steering column it's worth removing and cleaning the connectors on that unit and measuring the resistance of the key antenna they can sometime crack. Also make sure you don't have other car keys on your keyring.

Is the clear lens of the headlamp glass or plastic. I'm assuming your van is the version with plastic headlamp lens.
Have you removed the n/s headlamp to inspect the wiring.?
The wiring rubs on a bracket connected to bottom of fuse box usually, have a really good look for any contact points that may have rubbed causing a short circuit.
Make sure you have checked all the fuses, remove them one at a time to visually inspect.
Check the main earth lead from gearbox to chassis, remove clean contact points and refit, sometimes they look ok then you remove it and it crumbles in bits.
The immobiliser cannot be removed, it has to work.
