Morning guys. Took my Ducato x250 in for its Mot this morning and As you can see by picture I failed on a few things. Question. Does anyone know the relay of fuse issue that is causing so many bulbs to be out so I can replace myself, and how hard is it to change a velocity joint? Is it a garage job?
Thanks in advance. ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1404204798.171921.jpg

Swap you!!
Thorough check over before putting it in was it ;)
Nothing scary there apart from that drive shaft, was it clonking or anything?
I'd be very surprised if the electrical fault is a relay, I think you'll find a broken earth wire behind the nearside rear lamp unit, is ut wired for a towbar?
Set of pads, easy, your stripping the OS to do that CV joint.
CV joint, you'll need a jack, pair of stands, pref 3/4 drive socket about 40mm & be able to split the bottom ball joint.
If you have the kit its quite easy!

Thanks for reply Gareth, what is the problem if the 'joint is falling out of gearbox'?
is that all a CV joint problem?

Check the wiring plug on both rear lamps, prone to bad earths they are, you will prob find one connector pin is either burning out or corroded, open connector up and clean the terminal and crimp together (so it's a good fit on pin of bulb holder)
Also number plate wiring looms prone to breaking, repair or replace with new loom.

To be honest I've no idea why the joint is falling out of the gearbox, is it loosing oil from there?
I wonder if the slider on the joint has seized & its pulled out of the box when the tester jacked it up, I'd think it needs a new outer CV joint, might be a pig to get off the shaft, I once had to grind one to bits!!

So i took it to a garage and guy says he couldn't figure out why the mot garage says it was 'hanging out?' he did a repair, have noticed it tighter while driving so maybe there was a fault. All the light faults were down to a bad earth on back light cluster. New discs and pads done.
Well its going back in tuesday morning for a re-test, will let you know how it turns out.
