Hi there all.

I just have a quick question regarding the tyre pressure for my 1996 ducato 10.
I dont have a handbook, and the tyres say max 65psi. Should i be filling them to anywhere near that?
cheers

Reccomended tyre pressures will vary according to the usual load as well as the tyre brand. (i.e. if the van is a base vehicle for a motorhome it will need to be run on higher pressures than if used as a light 'white van')

On my van there was a sticker on the driver's door reveal with a guide to the pressures but the only way to get a definitive answer is to weigh the front and rear axles with a normal load and then contact the tyre manufacturers with this information for their recommendations.

Incidentally some budget tyres should not be inflated higher than 65psi so will not be suitable for all usages.

ah great thanks. I have just a simple white van and on the inside of the door it said 43psi. so guna go with that.
Thanks again

Coachbuilt motorhomes tend to have long overhangs behind the rear axle, and in a survey a large percentage were found to be overloaded on the rear axle. Several motorhome owners, including myself, have since found michelin automatically quote the maximum pressure for the rear tyres if you tell them its a motorhome, irrespective of the weights you give them.

Peter,

Thanks for the link to that useful chart; I will have to rethink my pressures as the suggested (by the handbook) 80psi seems too high according to the figures.

I should really take my own advice, lol, and visit the weighbridge....
