Hi all
I have the engine management light on my dash, so was going to purchase a cheap one on eBay but don't know which one.

Can anyone recommend one please

Avoid the really cheap ones they will only do eobd so sometimes won't even say a code is logged

Thanks

Could you recommend one?

I take it, it has to b OBD, OBD2 for the doblo?

Hi,

You could download MultiEcuScan. It will cover nearly all Fiats and other Italian manufacturers.

Then you buyer the cable needed to plug into your diagnostic socket on your Doblo.

You'll need a laptop (which is the handiest arrangement).

You can only run the trial version for 20 minutes, but you'll find its plenty of time to see the

fault codes. I use it quite often, and find it very user friendly.

Thanks John,

I take it download the free version of multiecuscan?

You got it Doblomutijet,

Then you can open it up, and run it on simulate mode, then enter your vehicle details.

It gives you a chance to see how to look at various functions.

Just to add, when you have your cable/interface you will see much more

information.

I see you're in Ireland.....................anywhere near Tullamore?

John.

Hi john
So I have the interface and download the mutiecuscan. I received a cd with the interface so do I need to run a program of this because it's no reading the ecu
Tks

You may need drivers for the cables, which will be on the CD.

When you first start a session, you will need to ensure that MultiECUScan is looking at the USB port that the cable is connected to.
Go to Settings (F9)
Interfaces
And select the type of Interface (You can scan for the Interface)
Choose a Serial Port number
Test
OK

Then Connect to connect to the car

Mike

Thanks Mike
Which drivers I'm I using on da cd?

I'm Scanning interface but "timed out" is coming on

Thanks

Hi Doblomutijet,

Here's what I did to get everything working together. My operating system on my laptop

is Windows XP. Yours might be different such as windows 7 or 8.

Click on Start.

Click on Control Panel

Click on System.

Click on Hardware.

Click on Device Manager.

NOW, plug in your cable interface.

Look for Ports (COM & LPT)

Click on Ports (COM & LPT)

Click on Prolific usb -to- serial bridge (com 6).

Here you'll see General/Port Settings/Driver/Details.

Click on Port Settings

On this window click advanced ( positioned lower in the window).

Click on COM PORT Number ( lower left hand corner).

You'll see all ports on your pc. Now you have to pick the right port number, for everything

to recognise each other. It a bit of trial and error, but you'll get there.

Get to the car, open up multiecuscan, plug in your lead to the pc, and plug in the diagnostic

plug into the port on your car. Switch on the ignition, on multiecuscan, press scan. If nothing,

change the port number again, until you have connection made.

The issue with timed out maybe the bit per second count on the Prolific usb - to - serial bridge

window. Mines set at 9600. A bit of tweaking here and there maybe needed until you get the

desired result. Keeping to the same usb port on your pc, avoids making com port adjustments if you use another usb port on your pc,

by mistake. I always use the same one, and works every time for me.

Thanks for the help John,

Just when I get into the van is it correct I have to go through 265COM to find the correct one?

Also am I right in saying when the multiecscan is in use I am going straight to scan and not to setting? if so what am I looking for in the scan mode?

Another question would be to I need to download anything from the CD provided?

Sorry if these sound silly

Hi Doblmutijet,

Your second question first. Before you go anywhere near the van with the multiecuscan,

you have to set the settings of multiecuscan to your cable/interface.

Open your multiecuscan program.

Click Settings ( lower left hand corner).

On Settings window. Open Interfaces.

On Interface window, enter the type of interface cable you have in Interface Type 1.

When you have this done. Next, press scan for interfaces (located at bottom right hand corner)

(Some say you should be connected to the car at this stage, but I never did, and still worked out)

It will start to scan for the interface info you entered early. A result should reveal the COM

number to use.Lets say the scan said com9. Then go back to your port numbers via device

manager as explained earlier, and enter com9 in the drop down window. Now your connection

is set. Now you go to your van, and connect up, open up multiecuscan, go to settings, go to

interfaces, and click TEST ( beside the interface details you entered earlier). This should confirm

the connection has been astablished.

Your third question. Once you purchased your interface I'm assuming you ran the CD

on your pc. This will download all necessary drivers and all the info that comes with it

to operate the interface on your pc. Once you plug the cable in, it should be ready for use,

and this will be confirmed if you open up via device manager and see Port (com &lpt) as

explained earlier.

Your First question is answered if you process with the second and third solutions.

Don't feel silly.................................You should have seen me!!!!!!!!!!

You're mild in comparison.............Believe me. Lets me/us how you get on. Don't be scared to

ask..............we'll get you there.

Hi John

When I do the scan on the multieuscan its not showing me no com number it just says completed....

Thanks again

Hi Doblomutijet,

Correct me if I'm wrong. From your statement above, I'm assuming you're sitting in your Doblo,

pc in your lap, cable connected to your diagnostic outlet on the doblo, multiecuscan open,

you then entered your vehicle details, and then press scan,

and after a short while, you get the message, completed. If that is the case, you now press

Connect.

At this stage, I'm also assuming that you gone through the procedures of setting the

cable/interface to your pc, and setting your cable/interface to your multiecuscan.
