My 2007 Doblo is giving me a Glow Plug fail warning after the check okay message. I'm not sure there is a fault as it starts perfectly even when its cold.
Any ideas? a new set of plugs was fitted 1000 miles ago.

Glow plugs are just a aid to combustion in deep winter and help towards smooth running before the cylinders get to temperature (which isn't long). If its starting ok its probably ok to ignore. Also relevant are speed of turn over ie a fast turn over achieves more compression and more heat than a lazy turn over.

Thanks for the info. It starts and turns over perfectly. just get a warning once its started.

Do you mean the flashing glowplug icon on the dash? Mine also does it but usually starts on the button. Strangely enough this afternoon we went out to a country pub for Sunday lunch, it was just starting to get dark and felt a bit cool and damp when we got back in the Dobbie to come home and I didn't really leave the glowplugs much time to warm up before turning the key. It still started straight away but puffed a cloud of white/grey smoke out as it started. It gave me a bit of a fright but cleared straight up and ran smooth.:slayer:

Okay so all 4 plugs have 1ohm resistance and are only a few 1000 miles old. Checked the connectors and they are all looking good. Also fitted another controller and still get the light. Any other ideas why I get the error light and warning message?

i have a similar problem with mine.

I have a 57 plate 1.9 multijet 120bhp and yesterday when I started it I had a glow plug failure message come up together with a flashing glow plug light.

I hadn't started the car for about 10 days and it did turn over a bit slow but started fine.

I have heard that if the battery voltage gets abit low then it can bring up lots of error messages for no reason. (another fiat electrical gremlin !)

I am still getting the message even though I took the car down the motorway for 20 miles to charge the battery up and its been quite warm this weekend (well for January anyway).

does anyone know if I can just disconnect the battery for a few hours to drain the ecu of any residual power and then reconnect it, will it clear the message or does it have to be done by using the multiscan thingy ?

glad of any help.
