Mrs O#s Dobbin went in for a 36000 mile service today.Nothing extra!
Went to collect, receptionist played with computer, then asked if we had been quoted for the service.
No, says I, why?
It comes to £673, he says.
What, says I?
He then explains that this is 'the Fiat tariff service'
I argue and quibble.
He disappears.
After nearly an hour, discussions involving both receptionists, parts people and the Service Manager, he reappears and explains that it was all a mix up!!
It appears that Service Sheets are no ,longer produced locally, they are downloaded from a Fiat web site, after inputting the Index No of the vehicle.
Except that it got ours wrong.
The revised bill appeared, minus half of the parts allegedly used , and charging 2.3 hours at £89.50 and hour, plus VAT, rather than 4.2 hours. £344!!
I wonder how many people have been ripped off?

Hi all
Happened to us on our 1.3 doblo was quoted £169.00 for 24000 mile service, had car serviced, wife went into pick car up and was charged £289.00, rang me to check ,so i was straight on the phone saying was quoted £169.00 refund given straight away. so make sure you get quoted first before agreeing to any work.

My dealer does that!! Problem is that the board is about 20ft away, in a dark corner, so I can see the prices, but not the names of the cars. When I pointed out that the highest figure I could see was £577, when my bill was over £600, the Service Manager snottily replied 'those are prices FROM'. Then in the next breath he is talking about 'Fiat Tarrif' prices, which are set in stone????
Mind you, I ma glad I bought a Fiat and not a Nissan, no deiplayed prices at all for them!!

Re: Check Your Bill!!! it gets worse!!

Didn't use the car yesterday. Today Mrs O has gone off to get her Mum, After she had left I went out, and found four patches of oil, about 10cms across, on the drive.
Rang garage and was told that 'this is normal, there is a tray underneath and sometimes the oil gets on there'. I pointed out that the undertray has to come off to change the filter - 'yes, but there is a ledge that the oil gets on, it's normal'.
Idiot did not seem at all bothered when I told him that I did not expect a 3 year old car to drip oil.
Letter to Managing Director is the next job!

Hi Mr O

I would say you should not have any oil leak. It may be residue from the change, but a good garage/mechanic would have wiped it and checked for leaks (Like I'm sure T would do). Strange. I have a 20 year old Talbot Express Motorhome that I service and it is dry, no oil after a service !!

I have just got my Dobbin (400Mls its done 55000) and from the look of the majority of posts I will be servicing at my local back street bloke. He's right into Beemers, takes them to bits and mods them etc. Some of what he does is fantastic IMHO. So I will have no worries letting him loose on the Dobbin.

Hope you get everything sorted.

Still comfy.
