Replaced troublesome Stilo with Croma in October then broke ankle within a week of ownership so only just got back behind wheel. Missus been using it last 6 weeks but only on short runs to school etc with kids. I drove 60 odd miles today mainly motorway & also put it through car wash. This evening missus tries to start it and key not working in ignition & warning message as above on dash. I locked & unlocked car & took off steering lock manually (it was on tight & parked slightly up kerb). Car started fine but still told me on dash to check vehicle security system. Any ideas? I've checked other threads but confused. Is it likely to be battery on way out or immobiliser problem? Could the dreaded alternator failure be around the corner? Cars history only tells me when serviced & not what replaced. It's a 56 plate with 68k on clock. 1.9jtd 8v dynamic. I'm hoping it's just battery because of lack of use & we woke to snow in our valley thismorning :)

My 8v 1.9jtd displays this message whenever the alarm's been set off. It goes off after a few minutes driving or the next time I switch it on. Never had the steering lock on so tightly but sometimes when it is on I need to jiggle the steering wheel a little whilst turning the key to free it off so that I can start it.
