Hi I am thinking of buying a Croma 16V Eleganza diesel auto. Has anyone used one as a tow car. It's to tow a Lancia Fulvia on a 4 wheel trailer plus all the usual bits and bobs/tools/tyres etc associated with sprinting/racing. I use a Freelander TD4 at moment.

There's a couple of threads in this forum already which deal with this subject, if you use the 'Search' function and look for "tow" in the 'Croma' forum you should find what you're looking for (y)

Watch the weights, I think u will be over the 1.5t max. A twin axle car transporter weights about 550-650 kgs + your lancia + everything else you want to carry. Also consider if u load the car up, the max towing weight is reduced proportionally as the max towing weights are based on car + driver + half a tank of fuel. The only car mfg I ever found that quoted towing weights with weight in the car are Subaru.

Your freedlander I think has a max of towing weight of 2t if I remember correctly. I recently drove an auto 150 m/jet Croma that had been used for towing, the gearbox was slipping under hard acceleration. Hope this helps.
