I don't know whether my Croma is faulty or just complicated. Is the boot expected to unlock when I unlock the car with the plipper? The dashboard selection is "all doors" for unlock. Does this include the boot?

With mine, if I unlock then the boot remains locked. If I press the boot button on the key it does nothing, if the doors are locked or unlocked.

If I unlock-lock-unlock then the boot unlocks, every time.

I'm baffled - please help!

Cheers

Does it definitely go clunk? I couldn't hear anything even on the second unlock (after which it does open). Does something actually move, or does it just tell the handle it's allowed to work?

Should the boot unlock with a single press of unlock if set to "all doors"?

Should do. It definetly should unlock with the 'boot' button on the remote. Tried the 2nd fob?

The boot button on the remote does just that.. it doesn't deactivate the alarm. Me and my neighbours found that out at 5am on a Sunday morning when I was getting ready to go marshalling at Croft. Ooops.

That's reassuring! Mine does nothing, on either key. It sounds like a dealer job again. I just need to know what is expected behaviour...

Should the boot unlock when unlocking the doors with the remote?

Should the boot button on the key actually open the boot, i.e. mean that you don't have to press the release button under the handle?

Ta.

Unlocking the car should allow the boot to be opened via the boot release handle/button. Pressing the 'boot' button on the remote actually pops the boot open a little way. Might be a software issue if the boot eventually unlocks via the remote, I vaguely remember some of the early cars had an issue - might be worth searching previous threads.

HTH.

Thanks all. I'll book it in for when it goes back for its second sunroof repair(!). This car has spent half its time with me in the garage, but I'm hoping it's just a bumpy beginning after the previous owner neglected it. Still like the thing though.

EDIT: Thanks DoIDontI, found the other thread:

https://www.fiatforum.com/croma/147970-croma-recalls.html

I think this is about the boot handle though, not the lock itself. Unless the whole gubbins counts as one part. Still under 3rd year warranty, so will update this thread with any outcome.

Hi
I had the same problem with my 06 plate. Boot unlocks after the unlock lock unlock routine, but did not open when selecting the boot release switch on the door. Was sorted by having the release switch replaced, and having the onboard software updated.

Cheers for that very useful info. Is the release switch the body-coloured external chunk?

I did phone the dealer who sold the car new to ask whether any recalls had been done, and was told that none had been done, but it had never required any. Sounds unlikely to me, but it is a 56-reg, so perhaps they'd ironed out the bugs by then.

Or would the unlocking issue software update even be worthy of a recall?

Yes the release switch is the body coloured chunk on the boot door, it operates the door motor which releases the lock.

When i took mine in they were suprised that i had a software problem as i was an 06 plate, but looking at my documents i think it was a dealer registered car that had been sat in the showroom for a while. However since they changed the switch and updated the central locking software it has been working normally.

Now I'm confused.
My boot opens with the remote when the side doors are locked, but sometimes not when the side doors are open,I then have to re-lock all with the remote to open the boot with the remote.
The boot has never opened manually with the side doors open, others that I know do.

Now have I confused everybody?

Apologies if stating the obvious, but have you checked the dashboard menu for the unlock mode? (or whatever it's called)

An update on mine - left it with the dealer for them to check, they claim no fault found. Demonstrated the fault to them, agreed it's faulty and they'll ring me after the mechanic gets back. The problem is that the fault doesn't appear unless it's been left locked for over an hour(ish).

Sunroof fixed though (yay!), after fitting a new motor and entire new mechanism. I think pretty much everything other than the glass is now new. All done under 3rd year warranty - god knows how much this would be otherwise. I think they even had to take the windscreen out to get access.
