Now I wont say that all dealers are crooks but I am not entirely sure I trust my local fiat dealer to give me the full run down on what recalls have been notified for the Croma.

I have seen one possibly been mentioned about rear tyre wear but I would like to go into them pre-armed when I am getting a few problems sorted with my 2006 2nd hand croma.

They did mention one about an acuator which they would do but that was all.

Is there anywhere/site that has details of fiat/croma recalls?

why would they not tell you? Dealer must carry out any outstanding recalls (if any) as detailed on the cars SIGI which dealer will have when you take your car in.

Chances are your car will have none (or one/two) as most were carried out before cars were put out on the road, what problems are you having?

Perhaps its just me being a bit paranoid. I have been bitten a couple of times by dealers in the past when "known issues" where somehow "unknown" when it came to fixing niggling problems.

At the moment I have two issues which I know will be payed for by the dealer I bought it from, but, a bit like a hypochondriac after reading the forums I have seen issues about rear tyre wear and a problem with only being able to unlock the boot with the remote which is a problem I have (without every knowing it was a problem).

Once I can confirm that the loud beep that happens about 10 seconds after starting the engine is something to do with the warning light then I will be more content....im sure there is probably a good explanation for it somewhere in the user manual but unfortunately I didnt get one with the vehicle and with a distinct lack of cromas around there doesnt even appear to be any on Ebay.

Hello, I did the opposite - bought my Croma in NI and brought it back here. The Croma is a Nanny car - it tells you off when you do something wrong. The 'beep' you get is entirely normal, it will stop when you get rid of the warnings you are getting on the MFD (multi-function display). Don't worry about the rear tyre wear issue, if it's required and all else fails an independent four wheel alignment will sort it - the problem also exists on Vectras, Signums & Alfa 159s and is due to factory tolerances (lack of!). If you're getting the 'oil change' light then I'd say two things;

1. Did the previous owners really change the oil?

2. Did they use the right stuff - Selenia WR is expensive...

The boot problem can sometimes just be a software issue IIRC. There are a few minor design issues with the Croma which will no doubt appear on here over time but the basics of the car are right. While it's easy to worry about spares / servicing etc, parts prices seem generally very good and the car seems to have been designed largely by GM - rather than replace a spring or bracket, you have to replace whole items. Although this can seem expensive the increased parts prices are made up for by the fact that things are so easy to change.

The parking sensor issue is one of the messages I had when I fitted a towbar to my car - it may be worth checking the plug in the middle of the rear bumper as it's awkward to fit (has the rear bumper been removed at some point?) and seems connected but may not be fully home.

The only downside I can see so far is that the likelihood of finding secondhand parts in the UK is not very high at the minute, although accident damaged cars will be 'written off' sooner than other cars due to lower market values. I hope your (and mine:worship:) Croma purchase decision proves to be the right one, I'm planning to keep mine for 8-10 years so fingers crossed...

HTH.

On my recently purchased Dec 2005 Croma I contacted the garage that had stamped the service book (Thames Slough) to ask about recalls that it had performed. It confirmed it had performed 5138 - Rear Toe-In, 5015 - Air Recirculation Flap, 5010 - Battery Cable, 5009 (didn't catch what it was) and 4992 - Actuator. Unfortunately, I was speaking to a receptionist who was only reading from a screen and couldn't provide anymore detail but above references might help.

a problem with only being able to unlock the boot with the remote which is a problem I have (without every knowing it was a problem).

Press menu, scroll and select 'keys', then scroll to 'open all'.

That will unlock all the doors including the boot when you unlock by the remote.

Or if it still won't open when you use the boot button it could be that the switch has gone and it needs replacing.

This happened on our's when it was 8 months old and the whole trim unit needed to be replaced, not just the switch, which included having to get it sprayed to match the rest of the body. Now it has just gone again and we're waiting to hear whether its replacement, including the spraying is still covered by the 3rd year of the warrenty- the dealer's not certain!

The third year's 'warranty' is a particularly unfunny joke - "Make an appointment, bring your car in (which shouldn't have gone wrong anyway), we'll spend lots of money fixing it then we'll tell you whether you have to pay or not".

Small wonder Fiat have had a job keeping hold of customers despite having a decent product :bang:.

Quite unacceptable IMHO. Hope you get it sorted, please post to let the rest of the Croma Collective know how you got on :D!

Too true I'm afraid. Fiat make it just too difficult for all concerned with the warranty...

However, the good news is that it is all covered and our long suffering dealer has already got the bit so they will get it sprayed and fit it when it's MOT'd in a week!
