Evening all,
ill be picking up my first Coupe this weekend *fingers crossed*. and i want to 'Baseline' her so that i know where im at with the servicing schedule as there is not much history with the poor ol' gal :(

ive done it with the 3S-GE motor in the Celica aswell as the 1108/1242 FIRE units and finally with the 1.6 in my Stilo. for me its a pretty safe procedure when done correctly with all types of NA petrol engines. i wouldnt do it in a CI motor and i wouldnt advise it in an FI setup.

is there any reason i should not be flushing my 20v with Derv?

im aiming to get a full service done on her, all filters & fluids, belts & plugs.

any input appreciated.

You asked the same question a year and a half ago and the answer's still the same - just change the oil for a good quality oil of the correct grade, and also the filter - you'll be fine

Yeah i asked about different engines though... theres a resounding 'use a cheaper oil for flushing' on these engines where as every time Ive asked previously Theres been people who have done it before. Yes Its an aggressive way of doing it but ive always been pleased with the results.

Anyway Ill be flushing with a cheaper lighter weight diesel engine oil and running for a couple of weeks before dropping then Ill put in the good stuff for long term
