Right i wanna build a computer but i am not to sure what compoments to use. can you give me your advice on the following please:

1. Motherboard
2. Harddrive - already have a 1tb external so i am gonna get 320 or 500 internal
3. Cpu
4. Graphics
5. Ram - its got to be 4gb or above

No he's asking what parts to buy. Wants advice on specifics.

All Ill say is get on Toms Hardware and pick hardware that suits your performance / budget needs.

Personally i'd got for AMD setup as there better for gaming and nicer choice of Mobo's IMO

I'd also go for ATI HD series graphics card (ive got the HD 3870 512mb DDR4) and its f***ing awesome :). Theres nvidia fanboys out there but they don't know the technical workings of graphics cards as I do. Nvidia 'cheat' using filthy driver optimisations that cut corners on quality. ATI is what you see is what you get hence why they were used in the Xbox360.

Yeah Tom's Hardware is lethal

(I recommend the Charts that show you the differences in speed with the different pieces of hardware {such as RAM})

cheers all. i will look into the advice soon. I know what case and also harddrive but not sure what type to get. It isn't used for gaming really - got the king of consoles the PS3 for that.
 
no PS3 all the way for me i have had the PS1 - PS2 and the PS3 i am a playstation man. ok i will get a list of items i am thinking of getting and post them later

Yeah spend a few days getting everything together.

So what on earth did you play on between the PS2 and PS3. Should ahve got a 360 and been converted
 
On the PS2 still and the computer. Never really been interested in the 360 dont think i have ever played one it will be like cheating on my Playstation lol.

TBH there aint much difference now between the 360 and playstation so not that fussed.
 
well it all depends on your budget and your need to be at the bleeding edge of tech... what will you be using it for? if its gaming then whats the max resolution your screen supports? the best cpu (power/value) you can get your hands on at the min is a SLACR "GO" stepping intel [email protected] which you can overclock in a matter of minuites to 3.6GHz using the standard cooler, if your lucky you can pick one up on ebay for under £120. 4gb of high end ocz reaper pc2-8500 ram will set you back about £90, then depending on what your going to use it for you need to select the chipset thats right for you, if you want the option to use 2 graphis cards in SLI then your going to need an nforce chipset etc.... more details needed.
