Hi all, ive just put a novitec carbon airbox on me cinq sporting and i noticed a pink 'thing' in the rear half of the original box with what looks like a vac hose attached to it going to the original air feed .

What does it do?? as ive removed the vac hose and just wondering if it is important.

Also how hard is it to replace the rear suspension springs??

Cheers Brooky

Vac hoses are important, if its on the rear bit why not put it back on, if it was on the front bit then block the vac pipe, you don't want air getting in.

Rear springs? We would term that job a 'doddle'.

Only one bolt needs be undone, the lower damper bolt.

Cheers

Well its on the rear section and links up to the original cold air feed. Theres no wires going to the 'pink thing', just another hole for what looks like another pipe but nothing was there.

it goes fine with out it so should i just block the two holes up with something??

Also just put a 40mm tb on,its great (y) (y)

You should leave the vaccum hose that connects to the throttlebody attached to the throttlebody and blank the other end of with a screw, i have no idea why i was told to do it by my local mechanic, and im sure iv heard someone on here say it!!

I was always under the impression the pink thing in the airbox is a heat sensitive valve. When the engines cold the valve is shut so the valve in the induction (where the vacuum pipe goes to) takes air from the manifold pipe. When the valve in the airbox opens when it gets hot, it allows the vacuum to travel along the pipe to open/close the valve in the induction to switch the supply from hot air to cold. Or at least that's what I made of it. My pipe to the tb didn't have a vacuum in it with the engine on, seemed to be blocked already, although I do have a screw in there too just to make sure:p .
