just a quick question...

ive got my hands on a "rugby Ball" non-airbag steering wheel, that i was to swap for my cinq one (its really nasty, layers of dry skin......nice :yuck: )

ive searched on the forum to see if i can fit it on a normal cinq steering rack, but ive got 2 kinds of answer, yes it'll fit (Applesei) and no it won't (J333EVO)

so what is it oh knowledgeable ones? :chin:

also (i never ask one question it seems ) im not expecting a streight swap, but how much work would it be? will i have to canniblize the old one for parts and things

any help would be good

think you will find you need the later cinq/sei steering coloumn for that wheel.
though i dont know if theres spline differences i know which of those two i would trust

so apple is wrong (...again )

i know where a columb is, but im not going to that much trouble

TBH i wouldnt bother.if you watch ebay you can get sports wheels cheaply.think my momo cost me £40 all in by the time i got the boss

i havent got £40, this was just a cheap idea as the car it was in was being scrapped

ill try to bodge it, if it dont work then ill give it to my little brother and he can muck about with it

i hope the airbag is/will be removed?

It will fit providing it is the non airbag model but as custard said you will need the sei coloum IIRC

I remember saying 'yes it will fit a cinq' but not to 'yes it will fit to a cinq steering coloum'

Id like to see evidence

Yeah that says 'will fit a cinq' which it does.

Aarons cinq has a later cinq rugby ball steering wheel for example

However i do not say in any of that posts 'will fit striaght onto a cinq' as you need the sei steering coloum.

The question is 'does this wheel fit on a cinq' in which it does.

The question isnt 'does this wheel fit on a cinq using a cinq coloum' in which case it doesnt and i dont say in any of those threads posted

in niether of you posts do you state anything about a steering column

you say "it will fit" not "it will fit if you do this, this change this and get a new one of those"

in the second post you touch apon the subject and say "it will fit a cinq, as the newer ones had them"

you dont explian anything about the column, and it cant be that you expected the user to know about the newer cinqs having different columns as he was a brand new member at the time.

the way you have construted the posts makes it seem as its a streight swap, as it turns out it doesnt "just fit a cinq"

thts like someone posting can i get 17"s on my sei and you going "yes"

it cant be done, but theres a whole lot of work behind it

It will physically fit on the Cinq steering column, but the columns are slightly different in length and the greater depth of the (IMHO 'orrid) rugby ball steering wheel will foul the dash, it will also look unfinished as this steering wheel has different shrouds that line up to the back of it.

By all means give it a try, then you will be the authority on fitting it
