tell engine builders that.lots and lots of melted and holed pistons.detonation is the death to any engine.thats what nitros can do.perhaps a low figure used occasionally is ok.depends on the health/mileage of the engine.:)
 
it depends on the NOS kit. If you just inject nos on its own, then yeah - its likely to detonate. But you don't do that. You inject fuel as well to compensate for the extra O2 in there. That'll give you more air, and more fuel and a bigger bang.

Yeah it's also something to do with the bottles having a pressure vent on them to stop them blowing up...
