Hi All,
Managed to get my citymatic gear selection problem fixed, thanks to Fiat who just had to 'reset' the actuator and so now works fine but for how long!?!? Thanks to all those who responded to my last thread on that problem.
Anyway back to my current query. When I got my seicento citymatic the owners manual which came with the car had no mention of the citymatic in it whatsoever!! Can anyone tell me why this is? Did fiat produce different manuals throughout the seicento production. Making the one I have a thoughtless replacement by the previous owner due to the loss of the original which came with the car.
Can anyone tell me is there a specific citymatic owners manual exsists and how I can obtain it? Is it possible to get it online.
Local Fiat dealership just ignored my request for one so preferably dont want to go near them again!!
Thanks

well in terms of producing a different manual fiat did not do this, you had the same manual for whichever version of sei you had, this covered s,sx,sporting and van. I have an MPI seicento (facelifted) and all guises are covered, however the citymatic is an SPI seicento so not sure if the manual is different.

I have never heard of a citymatic manual to the best of my knowledge, but i would source ebay and scrapyards for more information and to see if one comes up.

What does 'SPI' mean when refering to the citymatic.
I dont understand why it would not get mentioned especially when the citymatic system is such a fundamental part of the car. Is it because they didnt make enough of them?
It is frustrating when I could be doing something wrong when operating my car!

Get onto Fiat to convert your Citymatic to a manual, they did mine and countless others. The Citymatic is a death trap, when the gears go they go! It doesnt matter where you are they will just 'beep' and cut out, sometimes this is in the most dangerous positions possible.

Reseting the actuator will only help it on a temp basis, it will lock up again and I must stress this more so now beacause the Citymatics dont like cold weather and we are fast approaching this! Many a winters mornings the car wouldnt get into gear.

There is no special way to get this 'triptronic' system to work better cause it never will. Get onto Fiat to fit manual gears into your car and rip the crappy Citymatic system out! I saw a Citymatic parked up the other day, if I had spotted the owner I would have told them the same. Why do you think they pulled the Citymatics from sale so quickly?

basically what dave said, plus MPI are the facelifted seicento and they never made a citymatic in MPI form.
