hi all .I am looking to get some new rear lights for my RHD Sei and as we all know getting parts from Poland can be half the price for new bits .any one know if theres any difference in the rear light units between LHD and RHD for the life of me i cant see any difference going by pictures as the Fog/reverse looks to be in the same place ..

i know this is an odd query but would certainly be one to know for sure.

many thanks Stu

basically ive seen a set of those lexarse the type that are the 3 light versions and look more oem
lights but in black so not to daft as am fed up of the steamed up rear lights ( yes i know you can drill them ) but fancy a change any way .the lights ive seen are listed as lhd and i assume they use the bulb holders from the original lights so in this case if the LHD and RHD are different then i wonder if its just a case of swapping the bulb holders over from left to right ..hope this makes sense

You would have to rewire the revers and fogs.

The thing is, if one fog light is fitted, I believe it has to be on the drivers side so check the regulations and MOT details.

Yes you are correct, to pass mot the fog light must be either in the center of the car or the drivers side, as lhd drive cars obviously drive on the other side of the road the fog light will be on the wrong side for this country. But, i have thought about getting a set, taking off the front clear covers and swapping the smaller red plastic lamp cover from one lamp to the other.

I thought about doing that to some standard ones (mine have small cracks)as they are cheaper in Poland...

All you need to do is put a Red bulb in , and the foglight will light up red .. no need to rewire any thing ..

they will plug in , but you will have a red "fog light" on the left side that will light up white.,, if you put a white bulb in

Again, I would check with the MOT people first as they are becoming quite picky with things now..... In the near future, who knows what will change again.
I chose my Omex Ecu because it is 'E' marked to cover myself.

Thanks to everyone who replied ,Most appreciated will certainly look into everything ,the link from ebay i emailed them last week but never got a reply ,which is a bit annoying ,i emailed the other place that sells these in Poland and got a reply next day and telling me the difference re the fog light being in the wrong place for RHD .If i get a set from somewhere will post up pics etc .

another way of avoiding Mot issues is to just swap back the old lights at mot but then as said just changing the bulb should be good and if the mot says hoy just swap the old lights over at the time of mot

am sure i can get those bulbs a lot cheaper ,but gives us an idea what to look for

yep i just checked the pics again and realised that the reverse light will now be RED as i doubt that those lights will come apart to swap the actual lense over ,so either put up with a RED reverse and fit an extra reverse lamp ( sod that ) or really just re wire so the fogs on the wrong side and the reverse is too it looks like theres NOT an RHD version at that price the rhd are 100 pounds plus of these lights according to google images well in the black version and the chrome ones are just yuk

having spent hours researching via google the lexus lights in black .theres only one company in the uk that claims they can get the rhd versions of the type above and there 86 plus post however there website looks like one of those dodgy spoof sites so am not convinced ..heres the link

they did reply and said they can order them in ,however theres another type available ( no one has these in stock in the uk ) ive checked ,found them for around £58 posted from poland ,ive emailed them to see if they do have them having compared both lights from the handful of pics available of these fitted to the sei online on a red car the ones from Poland look a bit better more factory as the lights are slightly smaller

hopefully will find out over the next few days

i been tempted to buy a set of LHD rear lenses for ages, not keen on the lexus ones at all mind... These are epicly gorgeous IMO though http://www.italo-tuning.de/rear-lights-black-2-p-4242.html

Although my other idea is to just get a normal lhd for my drivers side and have 2 reverse lights and wire my fog to the high level brake light.

lol i like having a reverse light,,well the polish place has the lights in stock however when you try to order its a total pain as you can just go to a credit card screen it confuses you with something called upay which is like a foreign paypal credit card thing and unless your polish even with google translation..i gave up total waste of time... so looks like getting any of these lights in the uk easily is more hassle than its worth,,ive currently got my oem lights off and several holes drilled and have cleaned them out by spraying brake cleaner ( its a solvent however it evaporates fast and takes the gunk moisture with it ) so the lights are now near the radiator and will be siliconed up around seams and the drilled holes.
