Hi folks,

Have a 2001 Sei 'S' which documented on the V11 as Engine capacity/CO2: 143 G/KM, Making the tax £74.25 for six and £135.00 for twelve months.

However have also have a 2001 Sei Abarth sporting car, which is down as Engine capacity/CO2: 155 G/KM, Making the tax £93.50 for six and £170.00 for twelve months!

Is the V11 for my Abarth correct, (its the same as my 2.0ltr TDDi Mondeo!!

Anyone know?

Cheers

Jon (y)

Its because of the year car, Ive got an s reg abarth which is £70 odd for 6 months but my 2002 sporting I had was £93.50 for 6 month. Before 2000 (I think) they taxed the car on engine size, after 2000 went by emissions.

This is my pet hate subject. I have a 2000 (w) reg, I got this because a year newer would cost me nearly £20 extra every 6 months! Luckily I always check the dvla website when looking for a car. You can type in the reg, make and model and it will bring up the price of the tax. Its amazing sometimes, and has put me completely off some cars. I still think that £75 for 6 months is steep for the size of the seicento, but there are alot worse offenders out there. I wouldnt mind, but the chances are that when my car was new, sat in a stockpile there was the same car next to it, put on the road 12 months later and is now getting stung on the tax.

March 2001 ("Y" reg") was the change to emissions based road tax.

But if you look at my link you'll see that the emissions for a 1.1 MPI Sporting is higher than a non-Sporting 1.1 MPI, just enough to move the Sporting into a higher band.

Seems as though I've touched a raw nerve here?

Is the performance significantly different to the 'S', (I've not driven it on the road yet to compare it yet)?

Did drive the abarth briefly last year and it did seem tio have a little more 'voompf'??

It is on the tax disc look before you buy, the non sportings can have a longer final drive.
