Hi Guys and gals! was wondering if anybody can help out and shed some light on something for us. My girlfriend's Fiat Seicento has knackered rear radius arm bushes that could do with changing. I thought it would be much easier to order new radius arms and get them fitted on. However, she has the Michael Schumacher edition (ggrrrrr!) and I dont know why but fiat took it upon themselves to use a lot of one off parts on these cars - and I think the radius arms are no different. When I look online I can only find (on shop4parts) the none abs arms - they're £122 quid each - quite pricey, but not as bad as ringing up fiat and finding out the ones for our car are £240 each! Why is this? Anybody know what the actual difference in in the radius arms? can the cheaper none abs ones be made to fit? or is this just another Fiat scam? Had the same issue with the fuel tank till we discovered we could just use an SPI one and swap the fuel pump from our tank over into it! We would appreciate it if anybody can help out on this one! Cheers all!:)

The only difference is the shui has abs as standard, all the parts are exactly the same as every other seicento and cinq, the only difference is the wheel bearing. the abs ones have a toothed section I think and cost a lot more than the none abs ones. the bushes are easy to changed if you use Polly bushes, powerflex, strongflex etc. Have a look in the guides section, I did a guide on changing them.

wow - thanks for the quick response guys! So, is it safe to assume that if I cant get the bushes out or the bush holes (!) have worn oval - then the radius arms are the same for both the Schuey and the normal sporting? - So I could swap the backplate, brakes, wheel bearings onto a new arm and jobs a good un? - Just thinking, a set of powerflex bushes are about 70 to 80 quid, and a new arm is £122 (if the normal ones will fit ok) - just thinking it would save a lot of labour time - if it fits ok? I just thought there may be some "attachment" or summat for abs? or a different size wheel spindle? no? here's hoping not! Cheers guys.

Nope, everything except the wheel hub/bearings is exactly the same. Have a read of the guide tho, there an easy DIY job and the Polly ones really do make the car feel better to drive. Id be tempted to take the whole subframe off and refurbish it. Once the arms are off its only 4 bolts and some pipes.

Hi,

I got standard bushes from eurocarcare (well known on the forum) at £7.50 each. (2 per side)

Local back street garage charged 1.5 hours a side to do the work. £25 per hour out of interest.

Fair enough, I didst know about the backplate, but they'll be interchangeable with the ones he's git on his car at the moment. So still any arm with or without will still fit, you just may have to change a couple of bits over.

cool. Nice one guys! I'll see what's what in the bank balance and decide what to do - I'm just glad I can use standard radius arms and just put my backplate on if needs be - or I may be braver and hack the bushes out - either way - hopefully wont be as expensive as I first thought! But why oh why do Fiat have two different part numbers and prices for the radius arms when they are essentially the same part? I dont get it - its not like you're gonna get a new backplate and hub in the assembly anyway - you'd have to unbolt your own and use it anyway - so why the confusion? or maybe they just like pulling our pants down!

The ABS rear arm has a different back plate mounting welded to it. It has a hole and an M5 thread to mount the ABS sensor.

You can't use a standard arm unless you can find a way to mount the sensor in the correct place..

You can use a standard drum back plate if you drill a hole in it for the sensor to go through.

The van arms have provision for a load actuating valve for the rear brakes.

ABS arm.

Brilliant, brillaint threads guys!

An inspiration to the likes of myself - I've got to sort out my daughter's Sei very soon!!

Know of a good complete rear subframe to substitute, please let me know.

Cheers
