Hello all,
i'm new here so let me say firstly what a cool place this is!everyone's so helpful and friendly (y)
Anyway,i'm pretty new to the fiat brotherhood having only owned my sporting for a couple of months(actually i did always have a soft spot for fiats stemming to the string of them that my parents owned when i was young('84 panda,'86 Uno,'90 Uno 60s)so that probably explains it,but this is the first one i've owned myself),and i was browsing through the manual and noticed that, aswell as the 900 and 1.1 a 750(or was it 700?)cc engine was also listed-are these quite rare or was it only available on the continent?i always thought there were just 2 engine sizes.

The 704cc was only available on the continent, as its already been said, but I'm not sure when they were withdrawn - they're listed in my owner's manual (produced in '96). I think it was a tuned 2 cylinder derived from the 126, and it put out 31 bhp.

Yeah,i thought it sounded pretty puny too!!can't have been that popular.Wasn't there a 750 Panda?Must've been like that i suppose.

My Cinq SX had it in the manual too and that was in 1994. 31bhp is pretty good from it considering the 4 cylinder 898cc was 38bhp (or was it 36?).

oh yeah, Welcome to the cult!(y)

Wrong Gaz! 899 puts out 39 bhp!

There is another engine size I've just remembered - 901cc. IIRC its was the same engine as a Panda. It was dropped for tax reasons or something like that, but it was never released in the UK, probably because it was dropped before Fiat decided to export Cinqs here! Put out 41 bhp.

There was a FIRE unit that had 750cc of displacement...That was a 4-pot.

No 2 cylinder jobby there!

I hired one in the Italian riviera, It went like a rocket up and down the mountains. That was untill you put any shopping in it, then it was a little dull. It had the most awful body roll on it. I suppose it was a replacement for the 126 etc.

That's what I was lead to beleive. However, I was reading some Fiat literature the other day (the official sales guide) and that quoted 44bhp:confused:

the wasnt the 901 actually 903cc? and its just the 899cc engine without hydralic tappets or summit similar?

Yes it was 903! My mistake!

AFAIK Arse, the 704cc and 750cc are totally different engines! IIRC the Panda had both. Also the 704 wasn't a FIRE engine.

Hi and welcome

The 700 cc one was a 2 cylinder air cooled affair if I remember right, only available abroad (thank God!)

Cinquecento with 700ccm engine is water cooled. Similar engine was mounted in Fiat 126 Bis and it also is water cooled.

OK anorak on, fur rimmed snorkel hood zipped up..

the Panda 750cc engine was the ultimate production evolution of the Fiat 500 air cooled parrallel twin...

the last 126 Bis had a 704cc water cooled all aluminium parrallel twin which is without doubt the worst engine i have ever had the misfortune to be involved with
and yes they did put in in the Cinq but it was not available in UK

the only cento you need is one with a 1242!
