Technical seicento won,t rev past 3000rpm

it only happens when it,s hot if the fuel filter was blocked wouldent it happen all the time ???????

i think its odd that it does it as if going into limp home mode but turns no lights on.. only thing i can think of now is to go get it plugged in to diagnostics.

that cost money when the garage tells you that this needs changing and that needs changing when really none of them needed changing, come on guys think hard, don,t mind spending money but on the right part.

Hi

Think you need to wait for David, the purple headed doll, Rallycinq.

I think it is happening when hot a few seconds from start because that is when the ECU goes into closed loop mode and it is unhappy so wont enter, and instead crow bars the revs at 3000 rpm, to allow you to limp hope, I think I know what you need to replace but not sure and dont want you to spend, at risk, so David will tell you.

sorry

Noel

unbolt the down pipe from the exhaust manifold and see if there is a difference. the cat or exhaust might be blocked if it isnt your fuel filter

changed the fuel filter and unbolted the exhaust still the same, which temp sensor the one in the head or the one in the inlet manifold

I had a similar problem a few years ago and it was the lambda sensor in the downpipe, I bought a universal one from ebay for £cheap, and problem solved (y)

I'd suspect the lambda as well check the wiring for damage first.

thanks guys i will pick one up tomorrow from the breakers yard then keep you updated,

I think Levermir called it. I had exactly the same problem last year. I had recently changed the Lambda for a cheapo aftermarket sensor after a failed MOT.

Being fortunate to have a spare 1 or 2 of everything, I started at the throttle body and changed everything (including plugs, ECU, leads, crank sensor, coolant temp sensor, MAP sensor, ICV etc), one part at a time, until I was left with the cheapo, 2 week old Lambda sensor as the only thing I hadn't tried; When I changed it for a nice new Bosch one, the car ran sweet as a nut.

I hate over-priced dealer supplied spare parts, but I hate cheapo chinese car parts even more.
