General She's back... Sei abarth high boost

Im gonna be a muppet here, but i think its the 8v bottom end and crank you use

You can use the p75/060 bottom ends, but they are the same desk and casting. They are even the same stud pattern for the heads (what you can put 16v heads on 8v engines :D). Water jackets are open block side(both 8v and 16v) and then the head has the pattern. I think the threads are the same for the head bolts too.

i have not used a watch for much much longer than the last time i drove the sei :p
Its my car and i shall make it 1242 if i like and i don't trust them pistons with more boost. I have had a pay rise recently and i have cleared all my credit cards and now i feel like spending some of my spare time and cash playing with my tub, is that so wrong?

Chalky's new engine looks :yum:

Well i have just got this bottom end and i have a spare head and countless random bits. I was only gonna take it apart to use the crank and rods etc but as i understand it now i need to use the 1.2 crank etc so no need to take the sei apart to do this, just drop the engine out and swap it one day when its done.

may be do the rebuild once you blow this engine up with higher boost :D?

Isn't VAD pistons just machined standard piston?

That atually makes sense Minq

I would say get the feulling and electonics right first on this engine (eg MPI & a megasquirt) , then if you get something wrong and melt something you have not really lost anything if you were planning on changing the engine at some point anyway

OK piston rings, never bought them before. Should i call fiat and get genuine parts or go aftermarket? And if aftermarket any particular brands either recommended or not??

See if you are using the pistons that is from the block, then i wouldn't bother changing them ... and if you were to get it hone, then get the machine shop to get them for ya. They need to measure it.

Agree with ming on that one, they need to be the correct fit for the bores after honing.

Rings will need changing as they haven't seen oil in quite some time, I wouldn't personally re-use them due to the amount of time out of the block.

Any progresses? :) Nice car, at the first sight looked for me like Emma's Seicento :)

funnily enough, when i bought this car, it was choice between this one and Emma's old turbo.

Update wise, not alot no. The car has been out blasting about recently (my daily was in garage for a while getting some work done and an MOT). During said period the exhaust started blowing, quite badly, and then the MOT ran out on it couple of days ago.
So its going to have to wait for an exhaust before i can MOT it again - have been so busy with work i not had time to take it to a custom exhaust place. Its only like an hour&half to the place i taking it but thats 3 hours driving plus the time to get the exhaust made up and thats a whole days work i've lost.
We nearly lost a big contract at work due to getting behind on delivering reports to the client and they threatened to cancel the order so we all been doing extra long days and weekends to cover it. Hopefully have some time soon to sort it out

edit: the engine is still in the pipeline but i'm not rushing to get it done, i work at a snails pace i'm afraid lol

So not alot going on here, nothing changed yet but should have a nice bonus from work in the bank this week so she prob about to get some money spent on her.

But, 1st things first, she is losing water from around the thermostat sooo, need to fix that.. So may as well fit a lower temp thrmostat while its off.

Now i know this has been spoken about various time but can't find the answer.. Are people still buying a different thermostat and swapping the inners over or is there one that just bolts on??
