Hello everyone -

I recently bought a modified engine and need to trace the first owner.

The recent owner said he had a Bravo and possibly Darren in his name, and is a fiat forum member. The past owner bought a cinquecento off the fiat forum member I am trying to trace, wrote it off, transplanted the above mentioned engine into another cinq' then decided to sell it to myself.

I have since stripped it completely, sent the crankshaft off to an engine engineers for grinding, then became aware of the current situation - We do not think this is a modified 1.1 engine because the main bearing size and crank journal size can both be found on fiat engines, but not both together. The main bearing sizes are 47mm, which is bigger than a 1.1, therefore the block must also be something other than a 1.1. I measured the bore and it is 69.8-69.9mm which matched up with a panda 1.1 engine, but like I wrote above - although one out of the bearings and journals matches the panda engine, the other doesn’t.

I can also provide the numbers on the block, and the exact crankpin journal and main bearing measurements (they are at home on my desk).

Any clue as to a previous owner would be a most appreciated welcome to the Fiat Forum. Lastly, the engine was originally modified by UAD motor sports.

Regards
S.

Could it be a 1242 block?

Was the engine originally from a black Cinq?
