Hi all,

I’ve managed to find myself a nice ‘original’ Cinq Sporting in Broom Yellow, but before I get it on the road I want to do a few jobs underneath - replace bumper brackets, check and change pads, oil etc, etc.

However, I’m unsure as to exactly where I should locate axle stands (haven’t got any yet t.b.h) so I’d appreciate any advice.

I’ve done several searches and there are many threads on this, but most offer descriptions of where to place the stands - but I wondered if anyone had any ‘pictorial’ views of where they should be placed??

At the moment I dont know a wishbone from a fishbone - so any advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks fo the replies guys, much appreciated.

If anyone does come across any 'images' though, I'd appreciate them - just as a 'belt'n'braces'!

Thanks again,

Ian.

I stick mine anywhere thats solid, and well spaced/balanced ;)

You won't damage much under there tbh.

I normally use the two little extruded holes, on the underside of the car, just after the front wheel arch. Look under and you'll see what i mean. Over the years they have got a bit bent, but are still fine lol.

I also use the front arm wishbone brackets, and loads of other places.

Just check its solid, not a pivoted/ jointed area like suspension parts or any part of the engine. Then give it a good rock, push and pull withe the wheels still on. If it doesn't budge your good to go :)

at the back i use the main rear cross member that the trailing arms and dampers bolt on to. you can kinda see it in this picture. but this is with the rear trailing arms and fuel tank removed.

it is the dark metalic blue bar the runs off to the left of the picture. you can see the base of the stand that is supporting in red at the bottom.

another picture of the same thing, u can see the bar in this one - but its not painted
