Greetings!

I have just got hold of a '97 Cinqucento and want to give the soudn system a bit more weight. I bought a JVC KD-LH401 stereo as the original had been stolen so there's plenty of connections for front/rear speakers and sub out.

I was wondering what the best way of giving myself a more balanced listening experience would be without taking any space in the boot?

I have noticed next to the back seats there are two little plastic shelves/caves. Could I put something in there? I've also seen little subs put under the driver's seat. Is it worth getting something better than the stock 4" speakers in the dash too?

I must re-iterate that putting speakers in the boot and on the parcel shelf is not my thing so as unobtrusive suggestions as possible please. I'm pretty good with woodwork so suggesting a project like that would be a feasable option.

I look forward to your opinions.

Al.

front door cards with some decent component speakers in them, amp under the passenger seat. tweeters fitted in the OE speaker posistions.

got a set of custom door pockets for mine, when i finally get round to picking them up from bushboy!!

if u feel the need for more bass, clarion do a nifty compression drive sub that'd fit under the drivers seat.

the plastics in the back can be removied/adapted for speakers
this is what i did in my car, they are 16cm, but some guys have fit 6x9s in the same space. i made an mdf panel and covered it in fabric
hope that helps
heres a pic of what i did :

Wicked, thanks for the quick replies guys! Now your opinions... would a decent set of 6x9s put in the side panels at the back (as per dr hillmann's system) produce enough bass to balance out the treble heavy speakers in the front?

Basically, I'm not interested in making things shake, I want balance. I understand that 6x9s are limited in their bass response so I'm prepared to invest in a sub if you think that's the best way forward.

Thanks again for your help so far!

u want the sound stage in the front, no need for rear fill.

put some decent 13/16cm comps in the doors. TBH, that is all you would really need.

I have a 12" sub in the boot, just for ****s and giggles.

hey, bought a cinquecento ('94 and hanging!) recently and i have an active vibe black 12" sub i know how it all works and all that i just wondered if anyone knew if there was a way to get the live wire from inside the car through to the bat without drilling any holes, ive looked everywhere but i cant see anywhere?????

just thought as well, my cinq seems to only have two speakers at the front, i want to sort this out and fit 6X9s in parcel shelf and was wondering if i cud fit them in the back part of the car where your arm is supposed to go if u know what i mean?? any ideas how to do it? or if it will even fit?

Buy a set of 3 way components.

Put the midbass (that's the big one!) in the rear quarter panels, then mount the mids and tweets up front.

Sorted.

+1.

Speakers only in the front and Sub in the back will sound extremely odd IMO!

need some 10cm comps and tweeters in the OEM places, 6" comps in the rears and a 10" sub (MAX) in the boot of a Cinq. I've never heard a car sub that doesn't go to stupidly loud, distorted **** volume. Goes for focal and everything.

Personally, if BASS is not your main concern, I would install 6x9 Subs as they will give a very nice punch.
