im just writing this thread really to see if anybody else has bought flocking from frosts ? if so how did you find it ? i decided as some of you might know to do my dash in it and i must say what a complete waste of time it has been because the stuff they give you which they call glue is nowhere near sticky enough and when it is dry just rubs clean off the plastic. you buy a kit and they say that you get a pump with it when its not its an empty plastic bottle which even under the strongest of pressure does not pump hard enough to make the flock stick to the "glue". i am totally dissapointed in this product and most definoutly would not reccomend this to anyone! has anybody else had this problem? i am definoutly writing to complain about this! why say it sticks to plastic when it clearly does not adhere to it properly!

I have used it and its a very good product.

The problems you have had are because you did not prepare your dashboard correctly. You have failed to remove all remains of any dashboard cleaners/polish as they contain silicone and as such glue will not stick to it, this is pretty obvious, why do you think they say never use this stuff on the peddles or gearlever, cos its blooming slippy stuff.

It is therefore your own fault that the product has not worked, as with most thing it's all about preparation.

In terms of getting the silicone deposits off, I have used white spirit, and other preparatory cleaners as this ensures the dash is taken back to its standard rough surface and allows the glue to get a purchase.

I believe that you will get a similar response from Frost, though you never know.

PS if you have a painted dash, it will need to be sanded to again give the glue something to stick to.

I have to say I copied Arron ( again :worship:) and mines worked well too.....

ive found the reason why it is not hard wearing and falls off ! here you go :

"Why do you need electrostatics? The 60,000v electrostatic charge propels the fibre end on into the adhesive. Without the static charge the coating would be un-durable and shed its fibres. It would also be un-uniform, patchy and not have the same anti glare properties.

I found that on suffolk flocking services website !

im going to give them a ring and get my dash booked in ! as i always say theres no point doing something unless your going to do it properly.

can i have all the stuff you failed with then :p

and this also explains the glue lol :

How durable is the finish? The finish is very durable. Many OE manufacturers use it in glove compartments and boot interiors for this reason. The nylon fibres are very hard wearing. Suffolk Flocking Services also use a special two-part epoxy adhesive to ensure ultimate durability so that no fibres will be shed over time.

i bet it looks good but reality is that it will not be hard wearing. ive just done an hour or so's research into this method and the way in which we have done it is incorrect because it requires static electricity and a much higher pressure.
