Hi, i am taking my Cinq in for a service soon and am getting some touch ups done on the paintwork. I had the thought of trying to smooth over the bonnet myself, then get it sprayed properly when its taken in for a service. How difficult is it to smooth the bonnet? And how do i do it?! My older brother can weld if thats any help, i cant see it being a hugely difficult job tbh. Also, would the whole bonnet need to be resprayed, or just the area where the badge was? Thanks

if your debadging the bonnet , there will be a hole left where the badge comes out, you should weld a small circle into this to avoid cataloy sinkage, then obivously smooth it over, your really should respray the entire bonnet

As above, try to make the circle as big as possible, this reduces the amount of filler and chances of sinkage.

also should be mentioned dont weld around it in one go weld it like a bit at 12 then 6 then 3 then 9 ( as in clock position ) too disperse the heat and reduce the chances of warping over the whole bonnet skin then slowly weld it all up dont use water too try and cool it down though as the weld will crack usual stuff too note remove battery leads
