How much would it cost to have the whole tailgate smoothed off including the boot lock. Ive had a bit o' a bump which has dented and bent the bottom edge of the tailgate y'see

well im afraid i dont know but i'd be interested in doing the same with my seicento. i think avon custom engineering quoted something like £400 or £500 for tailgate smoothing! thats a bit steep in my thinking. In theory it should be simply removing the badges, taking the lock out and filling and painting the gap on the sei since theres a boot release catch on the drivers side, but i dont know anymore than that.

I got quoted £200 but that was when I lived in Scotland, no planning on it now as the boot release cable has stopped working and I can't find a Sei Sporting in any scrapyard to get the replacement mechanism off! The badges come off fairly easily though and then just need a good polish with Mer to remove the rubbish they leave behind!

i would imagine that the weld a plate behind it and fill in the rest

i'd be very interested in it! if he can just paint the area surrounding the work that would be cool. just wondering if its gonna cause problems if the release cable snaps..... anyway of opening the boot then?
