hi, i have spent a fortune trying out shampoos and polishes. i have finally settled for the turtle wax extreme range (the stuff in bright green bottles). the wash and wax is pretty good at cleaning and gives a nice water repelent finish. then i use the polishing wax. i have both the paste and the liquid. the liquid is better because you can spread it out more and get it into the triky places. it is pretty good and easy to use.

i also use it because it is relitivly cheap. the shampoo is £9 for 2.5L and the polish is £7 for 500ml.

i was just wondering if there is anything else that does a better job for better value.

the polish got rated by max power and scored 8/10 for application, and 8/10 for finish. which is quite good.

cheers

matt

ps. is it just me, or is mer polish really hard to get off?

i wash mine twice with halfrauds advanced wash n wax, then dry, and wax with turtle wax. If its just a kwik wash i finish with polish instead of wax

i know i sound thick, but what is the difference between a wax and a polish? i thought they where the same.

Polish just shines the surface by rermoving a tiny layer of paint.
Wax puts a protective coating on the surface of the paint.

I use Meguiars yellow wax (carnuba wax) on a normal basis when I am just cleaning the car, for shows I use swissol onyx (also carnuba wax) not cheap but the shine is worth it ;)

I would not let turtle wax etc near my cars paint, I do use the cheaper ones to wax my wheels though.

I can post a pic of the shine from the swissol if the mods don't mind, its not on a fiat you see  :p
