Im a complete noob when it comes to this, heres my list of what i have how would they go in order after the car has been shampoo'd, autogylm ultra deep shine, autoglym super resin polish but dont have a wax though, but say i did, which steps would be right with the 3?

Wash.
AG SRP
--The put on a layer of a decent wax/sealant.

You could substitute the SRP with the UDS but the SRP has some masking ability which does help.

Ultra deep shine is a one hit product it contains a massive amount of fillers which will mask swirl marks but no abrasives

it also contains a sealant

Super resin polish is a Polish comprising of an abrasive compound which removes the top layer of paint (talking microns) and has a short lived resin sealant and some fillers

If i was you i'd

wash the car,

clay bar the car

give the car 2 goings over with Super resin polish

Just use a bit of masking tape if you have any black trim as its a real PITA to remove from textured plastic...

look here about 1/2 way down the page

followed by (easy to get hold of) Autoglym Extra gloss protection

(the EGP is a strange product as the longer you leave it the easier it is to remove (leave for an hour if you can) £7 ish a bottle

get a couple of foam applicator pads for applying

(can be had in halfords for about £4 for 2)

Oh and use the products sparingly as a little goes a long way a damp applicator aids it spreading and less soaks into the pads

Andy has hit the nail on the head, I reckon you don't need to spend big wonga to get a great finish. If the car hasn't been done for a long time or ever the following will give good results

Wash - any old car shampoo
Clay - I use Bilthamber
Polish - Autoglym Super Resin Polish
Wax - Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection or the one I'm using at the moment Bilthamber Autobalm

If you're feeling lazy then you can substitute the polish/wax steps for a single hit of Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine which does give a fantastic finish. haven't used it for a while but the results were fabulous on my old Alfa 156 in Alfa Red.

Comeon then thepottleflump what do you think of AB :D

best thing with it at this time of the year is that it doesn't bead up too well makes drying the car on a hot day much easier IME

if the OP wants he could use BH clay and then autobalm

one issue i have with Ultra deep shine is it doesn't tend to last very long at all

Have you tried the autowash TPF?

I've got Autobalm and the Bilthamber clay. I like Autobalm but not the easiest to use. I use a supersoft baby sponge to apply it, one panel at a time before removing and keeping the sponge nice and wet. If you let it set you're shagged. Gives a distinctive look and seems to last. My AB is one of the ones affected by mould (which they've now sorted), it's gone very grey but apparently is perfectly fine to use and still seems to work. I've been using the clay as well for some years and it does the job at a good price. Not tried the Autowash, when I run out of others I might give it a go.

I really like Ultra Deep Shine, gives a super finish, haven't used it for some time so can't really remember about it's longevity.

I really wanted to clay the Bravo this weekend but have been prepping the garage door and various bits of the house to repaint instead. The wife is happier that way :)

That demo of clay bar'ing the car was pretty good explaination, ive got the meguirs quick detailer.but i need a new clay bar or 2... where would i get them from ? whats a good wax to use. when i use the super resin polish i wont put swirl marks on the paint will i...as u can tell im a total noob lol

you shouldnt be able to see the LSP on the surface (i.e cloudy) it should almost be invisible except in the correct light....or thats how thin i can get the now...
