Hi! Dear friends!
I have a problem with my Bravo tjet 150
A very low whine in all gears, neutral, even if the engine is off
Is there after 20mph and speeds up according to the speed. You have to pay attention to hear it.
The question is ...Fix it? Or leave it like this???
The gearbox is working fine.
It is obvious that if you visit a gearbox specialist will suggest you to go the expensive way...600 euros
Had anyone a broken gearbox, after not fixing this fade whine???

I’ve had my Tjet 150 for a few months now, I’m at 85k miles and not experienced this yet but I’ve read up on it and it is a common fault across a range of manufacturers who use the M32 gearbox. I believe it to be the bearings in the gearbox wearing out, particularly the bearing for 6th gear, might be wrong I’m just writing from memory here. If caught early enough you can save the gearbox and your money by replacing only the bearings, this was done by the manufacturer eventually for 2012 onwards.

I know this as it’s one of my to-do’s for preventative maintenance; there’s a workshop in the uk I hear that do a gearbox rebuild with the updated bearings for £275, but like I said you need to catch the problem early - don’t persist with it too long otherwise you’ll have a more expensive problem to deal with.

Then again maybe check other things first like timing/ alternator belt pulleys?

The whine is speed related so probably is the gearbox? But the question is if you leave it like this,is it dangerous eventually? Or is it just this whine?

The typical M32 bearing failure is most noticeable in 6th gear. It is most noticeable under load so gets quieter when you lift off the accelerator and comes back when you accelerate.
A noise you have to listen for with "engine off" (clutch down?) Is not a major problem.
If you are concerned check/change the oil. Note you have to drain and refill the oil with a set volume to ensure the level is correct. Their is no level check plug. You may find it easier to get the correct oil if you go to a Vauxhall / Opel garage.

Had the exact same problem. Worn bearings are to blame for the whine. After replacing the bearings (all of them since the gearbox was cracked open) the whine is gone. The worn marks were much thinner than hair so you can make an idea. I would say you can leave it like this for now(for at least 15000 km-my experience). When the noise becomes stronger you should consider replacing them.
And by the way, changing the oil will not solve anything

Thanks for your answers!So...I have changed the gearbox oil with Fuchs titan sintofluid. The old oil which is red,was like brand new...also the drain plug was clear from metal bits. The sound is still there but not loud at all only noticable after 80kmh and with everything in the car turned off.
