So at 113,000 miles the alternator has decided to pack in.

The GF was in the car at the time and it had recently been stood at Leeds airport for 10 days. Started ok and got us home (about 70 miles).

The next morning (it was -1C), again started fine and a short drive to the supermarket was fine. On restarting she got the battery light on and the power steering failed, which I thought was a strange symptom (I know its electric pump driven but thought other things like lights / heater etc. would go first?)

Anyhow, AA man diagnosed no charge coming from the alternator so it is now at local specialists awaiting repair. Its a pig of a job apparently, tucked away at the back of the engine somewhere.

Still, she has got an Alfa Spider as a courtesy car so is fairly happy!
