looks mint Rob, i want to fit something like that to my 1.4, just imagine it could turn into a suction pump when the rain hits our awesome roads knowing my luck :D

Not worried about rain, have a much more exposed intake on my cinq, but yes deep puddles will need to be avoided! Just been for another blatt down the road, couldn't stop grinning :D

WANT!!! :worship::worship:

RobW, do you have a list of everything you purchased/used to make this?

Does the CDA not rattle off the splitter? I know you've said you have strapped the filter to the arch-liner but I just know if I did this that the CDA is gonna rattle and do my head in lol

Do you think it would be possible to do this with just a cone filter, ie without the CDA?

thanks for being the first to give it a try! (y)

The install will be fine with a cone filter, I just happened to have a CDA 70/130 lying around

All I bought was the 70mm 45 degree silicone elbow, which I cut down a bit with shears to suit the positioning and angles
You will need 2 off 60-80mm hose clips and maybe a piece of drainpipe or tube to attach the cone filter to the hose.
I was confident in doing this as I have built several custom induction kits before and used to make up and sell Cinq Sporting GSR kits. (y)

You could also do the install with a stainless bend and a hose coupling, I will buy these bits and try that as it will be an easier install with no adaptation or cutting required. Will need a study bracket fabricating to support the tube and filter though.

Its hard to describe (and impossible to photograph) where the CDA is sitting but there is a ‘shelf’ between the bumper and arch liner
All I did was feed a cable tie through the arch liner to attach to the CDA fixing strap to hold it in situ. If it hadn’t been 30°C yesterday I might have fabricated something more professional but I wasn’t 100% convinced that the install was going to be quite so awesome!

Thanks RobW!

Kinda gutted now as I only bought a K&N Panel filter at the start of last month! Havent fitted it yet so might hold off and just do this to it instead...I always loved the sound of my Mk1 Punto Sporting with the K&N cone filter on it.

The sound is even better today, car seems to have realised it can breathe!
Definite off beat growl building to swish-whoosh and then a little per-tish when you lift and the dump valve relieves :)

If you're not in the mood, close the window and turn up tunes(y)

Do you guys know anyone that has used an Apexi Power Intake Filter? I'm thinking about buy one for my Bravo 1.4 T-Jet.

The T-Jet uses a 70 mm diameter air intake, right?

Do you have any better alternative in the price range (say to 50€) ?

Thanks

Sorry for the late reply, been having too much fun with the car. :)

Fitted it all very easily on Sunday, and all I can say is WOW! What a difference it has made, and put a huge smile on my face when I drive it now.
BOV is now really nice sounding and makes a sort of pigeon noise sometimes haha.
Definitely a slight improvement in power, throttle response and sound :D
Gonna try and make a little in-car video of it soon. :)

Cheers for supplying all the links for the parts Rob.

 excellent mate was wondering how you have got along with it

I fitted a powerflow cotton filter on my tjet as had it from my last car good for 500bhp the only thing I found was car was less responsive then before, placed k&n on just the same drove to my mate to get rolling road to allow car to adapt, felt better. Rolling road showed 6bhp loss print out to prove afr was 10.5 so bogged over original as air feed not enough noise sounds nice that's all, placed air filter outside engine bay for tests gained 9bhp on standard, if fitting these must source better cold air feed to filter stock pipe isn't working.

just checked/changed the filter element as i wanted the Bravo to be breathing perfectly before trackday tomorrow

the element was still looking ok but changed it anyway for the guts of the spare CDA i have, this will get cleaned/oiled ready to reused

no real evidence of fouling and no blockage with dead creatures!

the silicone elbow is slightly chafed on the arch liner so will keep an eye on this; probably better to go for an aluminium elbow as previously mentioned

Darth Bravo is still heavy breathing (y)
