Hi,
Ive just bought a 1.4 Bravo & it has one of those dreadful in-built tape machines... I cant figure out where I would fit a cd player in... Did they make a Fiat cd player that would fit in nicely?? I have been told that I'll have to buy a face plate (?) for it.... Cant find anything on ebay..
Many thanks for any info...(y)

Yes, it's a facia adaptor that's what you should be looking for. Basically is a plastic piece the same moulding etc as your dash that fits in to make the hole when you take your tape player out fit any aftermarket CD player. Other than that you could try and search for a Bravo one?

Go to halfords etc. or www.caraudiodirect.co.uk and you'll find the facia adaptors as well as they CD players there ;)

yeah but the standard fiat stuff sounds crap and looks cheap. and they go for a lot of money on fleabay. it just doesnt make sense?

I bought the fascia for mine from Halfords (£15) yep stupid i know but i didn't want to wait for one off ebay. It doesn't sit flush with the dash though, it doesn't bother me but every time warrens in the car he's constantly pushing it:D

i push mine many times a day, but it still wont fit, i'm on the verge of getting a hairdryer to melt it into positon.

yes autoleads, and yes the colour, finish and fit are all crap, but my girlfriend has an autoleads one in her mk2 punto sporting and its a perfect fit, perfect colour and even has a nice textured finish. ITS NOT FAIR AUTOLEADS YOU ARSEHEADS

Don't forget to get wiring adapter as wiring is differant unless you are getting a cd player made for a fiat.i got facia and adapter from ebay for 14.99 which i thought was good value.

i've got a chameleon cd player in mine and didn't have to get any sort of wiring adapter

Only needed to buy the fascia:confused:

i got me fascia from fiat and its perfect!!i didnt need any wiring adapter though!

Wiring adapter may or may not be needed depending on the brand of headunit you buy. If it won't plug in, then you need one. Also related to wiring and depending on the brand you get, ignition and live wires may need cut and resoldered to each other if it keeps losing all its time and settings.

I got a cheap fascia for a fiver off Ebay and it fits fine, just got another to fit in with the new dash (when I get around to it), let's hope that's just as good. I agree with Jug that the Fiat equipment isn't brilliant, you can get far more from your standard speakers with a new headunit :)

Are you people not keen on the CD multichangers that go straight into your boot and can be controlled via the tape player and original centre console uni?

I have one in mine, love it!

I'd love one. Can't afford it though and must admit the chameleon looks crap compared to the Fiat stereo

If anyones got a multi changer for peanuts for FF member give me a pm(y)

Some advice though, always splash out on a few pennies to get it fitted in the boot properly - i done it myself and it was great but it would jump when you hit a pot hole or anything.

Paid £10 and the garage bolted it all in neat and tidy, doesnt jump now :) I got mine with the car, but it wasnt fitted... Never really looked into how much they cost to be honest.

its horrible standard equipment and it sounds cheap. if you dont care about sound quality or looks then i guess they're ok, but having a tape player on your dashboard is sooooo embarrasing :)

get a nice pioneer CD/MP3 player in there with an oel motion graphics display. then passengers will go oooh, not eeew.

I would, but i think it spoils the dash badly when you stick a CD player in, even you have the propper fascia... it just looks out of place..

Everyone in my car has knew straight away that i have the multichanger in the boot, as i skip songs a lot LOL.

As for the quality.. well... i think it sounds really good.. Especially since im using standard speakers etc...

must admit the fascia looks bad, and i do spend a lot of time abusing it into place. think i'm going to buy an original fiat fascia as they seem better quality.
