Technical funny meta alarm!

car wouldn't start this evening, went through the wholew adrainelaine rush followed by quiet swearing, followed by looking for haynes manual which was at home, followed by imagining what could be wrong this time. turned the key on the alarm off then on. problem solved. why did this happen? never had any trouble with the alarm before, and have had this model alarm on other cars without problems.
