Hi all got another query for anyone if they can help.I realised that the alarm on my 97 bravo hgt wasn't turned on,and i think i know why.I dont know if its normal but after about 30 seconds it decides to arm itself.This i suppose is a good idea if you forget to lock your car etc,but what about when your buying petrol and your wife is in the car,or getting out of the car and by the time you get to the boot to remove your records its armed??Is there a way of extending the time before it activates.If not this must be the most stupid alarm ever,any help??cheers anthemmaster

are you sure its not just the immobiliser that is active,does the siren go off?

After about 30 seconds the indicators flash once and the alarm is on,if my wife moves inside the car or i open the door the siren goes off.I have to press the key to turn off the alarm b4 i get back in the car.It doesnt lock the doors just activates the alarm(and no i didnt activate it by accidentally pressing the button)My vauxhall used to do a simiilar thing but not till about an hour of the car being left alone.Cheers anthemmaster

Sorry meant to say that when i activate the alarm by pressing the key,it seems to work fine,the doors lock and the indicators flash once,the red light on the dash flashes.When i press again the doors unlock and indicators flash twice.So it seems to be fine.Its just a bit strange that you cant leave anyone in the car?Anthem

Thought i'd let you know how i got on.I rang 3 Fiat dealers one in Heswall said that the alarm was probably faulty,bring the car in and they will look at it.
Caledonia in warrington said it is set in passive mode and if i brought it in they could put it on a computer and turn of the passive mode for about an hours labour£59 quid.
Mangoletsi in knutsford said they knew nothing about the alarms on this model as it was updated constantly after 1997,best thing to do is to switch it off!!

These people are supposed to know about the cars they sell aint they?
Anyone have any ideas?

i would think that the passive arming mode should be user selectable either by a button on for example the LED unit or by turning on the ignition and pressing the button a set way ,got a handbook for the alarm?

Hello and cheers for the advice so far,unfortunatley the alarm is the standard one and it doesnt seem to have an individual manual.Ive got all the books that came with the car and all i can find out is how to turn it on and off,also if you hold the button for 5 seconds it silences the siren.But silencing the siren?i might as well turn it off if theres no siren.
Anyone know anymore about the alarm.The car is a 1997 p reg 20v hgt,if thats of any help.Again cheeers anthem
