I got a 98 bravo 1.8 hlx last week.

It was running really well until last night. I took it out and everything was fine. Parked it for a few hours then when I got back in it started fine but had no power. I strugggled to get above 30 mph. When in neutral the revs won't go above about 3000.

Any ideas?

Well I put redex in the fuel tank and it ran a bit better, still felt a bit choked but was improving. Out again last night and it made a funny noise then died. Got the AA out and theres a crack across the engine casing beside where the oil goes in. It's been towed to a garage and I'll need to wait and see if it's fixable. Timing belt was fine -the AA guy wasn't sure what had gone wrong but it's not looking good
