Hi ladies and gents I have a Fiat Brava 1.2 100 16 v 2001, I have noticed when taking my foot of the accelerator a strange rumbling noise coming from the centre of the car, heater area, when I accelerate it stops. When brakeing the rumble slows with the car. This only happens when driving when still with engine running nothing, any ideas? THANKS

Are there any vibrations? does the car pull to one side? Could be wheel baring, possibly even warped disks depending if there is a vibration. Does it only happen when you break. What are the exact conditions that it happens? Could be a hole in the exhaust possibly.

You could be right re the bearing, discs are new and fine, car was serviced 3 weeks ago and told exhaust was showing signs of wear.
Thanks very much

Funny you should mention new disks, definatly have them checked, in my experiance, many disks warp, even if they're only 3 weeks old, you have to be really careful bedding them in if they're standard disks... it's due to the materials that are used and asbesdos and all that stuff.
