hi on the way home 2day my gear box i think started to make a noise kind of grinding noise when the car is acclerating there is no noise but when you let off it starts and if the car is not in gear and just rolling still makes the noise with engine on or off can any 1 help is it box or clutch ???????

it isnt box or clutch, i can be sure of that because it happens in neutral with engine switched off.

it could be a wheel bearing. is it louder when turning one way compared to the other?

if you have added different sized wheels/tyres then they could be catching on the car.

there are several gearbox bearings that could be noisey even in neutral when rolling the car. if your car is a 1.2 then this is more likely compared to other models. the 1.2 like to damage the differential, and that could also be noisey when rolling in neutral if damaged.

cheers mine is a 1.4 just hope i can find a gearbox to match cheers
