was using this guide: which is the same appraently for the bravo

https://www.fiatforum.com/bravo-brava-marea-guides/81776-marea-20v-gearbox-removal-refitting.html

was following this guide, but it doesnt say when you have to remove the passenger side driveshaft or how to.

do you only need to remove the passenger side drive shaft? when do you do it, and from which end do you undo? do you keep it atacthed to the hub, and undo gearbox side? or do you keep it attatched to the gearbox and undo the hub end?

i cant work it out from the guide, and am at the point where im unbolting the passenger side hub, but not sure what to do with the driveshaft.

once the passenger side hub is disconnected you remove the shaft from the car. it is only slotted in at both ends on the 20v, so you can literally pull it off.

Not sure if my pm sent. so will put here.

1, Yes. Only remove the hub and wishbone from the passenger side. The idea is that with the hub/wishbone unbolted then the drive shaft will be free and able to move with the box. Or even pull it out the box.

2, only reason its removed is to allow the gearbox to drop down under the car. So long as you do it before dropping the box, you can remove now. The guide is written in a kind of order of when to do things (y)
The drive shaft is anchored at the wheel end. Hence the easiest way is to undo the fixing points that hold the hub in place. I suggest pulling the shaft out using the hub as leverage.

Catch any gear oil that comes out in a tub.

The drivers side driveshaft comes ont the box when you seperate the box from the engine further on in the guide.

3, once the abs speed sensor fixing is out it should move. They do get stuck though. use some wd40 and let it soak in where the sensor is attached. Be careful if levering or twisting out as they are fragile.

thanks guys. should be able to do it easy now :slayer:

most apreciated :worship:

cool,

got it off. had a wrestle with it yday, and its now back on :slayer: was a mission with only help of a girlfriend a crappy jack that didnt go high enough without blocks of wood, and some rope. and yes i got her hands dirty, in more ways that one:slayer:

anyway - we snapped the front gearbox to chassis mount bolt - the really long one thats hold the two together.

would the top half of a mount off a 1.2 bravo fit my 2.0 hgt? can get one for a 5ver if so.

also where do you put the gearbox oil in? had half a look, and couldnt see anywhere straight away. where does it go in?

Not sure, possibly... Otherwise Go to scrapyard to find bolt sure you will find similar on a jtd

I think the oil hole is a large allenkey, look through passenger wheel arch. You top until oil comes out. My memory is bad, lol

that gearbox mount is specific to the 20v model.

the filler plug is on the front face of the gearbox, facing the front bumper. it is the highest plug (lower is drain plug)

Told you my memory was bad, thinking about it I think I might have described the oil fill on a VW caddy van

how much will this cost at a garage i was quoted £390.00 including fitting

filling up the gearbox with oil £390 seems a little steep :D

only kidding buddy.

where do you fill up the bravo 20v gearbox, is it on the side at the front?

and any idea where i can get another bolt from? cant find anyone scrapping a 2.0 hgt. i need the bolt that joing the two halfs of the front gearbox to chassis mount. its a long bolt about 100 - 150mm long and prob 8 or 10mm wide.

any ideas

filler plug is on the front face, its the one that is highest.

fiat dealer may be able to get the bolt you need, alternatively take both bits of the broken bolt to a good hardware shop and see if they have one the same.
