when i put my wipers on earlier on the intermittant option there was a loud thumping coming from behind the dashboard (or thats what it sounded like anyway)

Switch the wipers off and the noise literally fades away, it only seems to thump loudest just before the wipers move

Any ideas? its the s reg 1.4

linkage starting to go maybe

yeah could be play in the linkage. try wiggling the wiper arms, there should be no play, a tiny bit is ok, a bit of a wiggle means trouble ahead, which is bad news this time of year.

well i moved the car earlier and tried em again and this time there was no sound. If the linkage does need replacing how much £££ are we talking?

hi have you put same size wiper on passanger side
just i changed mine once and was doing the same it was worse when wiper on fast it was hitting plastic at the bottom of wind screen took wiper arm off and moved it up a little spot on now
